Our Practice

Wash area The Northumberland Dental practice is based in Parklands, Tableview, Cape Town. The practice was designed by Dr B Kurien and Dr J Van Wyk based on previous experience of running several dental practices. • Advanced cleaning and steam-based sterilisation units
  • Modern networked computer system
  • Internet access for EFT payments
  • Plasma and LCD TV's in waiting areas
  • Children's play area with several activities for children
  • On-site mini laboratory which facilitates quicker procedures and can reduce the number of visits required for common procedures

Our Equipment

Here is a brief overview of our modern dental equipment:

  • Computer x-rays: To make diagnosis easier and more accurate, we use digital x-rays. These are safer, meaning 90% less radiation than conventional x-rays, and only 5 seconds from mouth to get visuals on computer screen
  • Digital Panoramic x-ray: gives a full mouth picture of the entire upper and lower jaw and joints, nasal area, sinuses, teeth and surrounding bone. It can reveal cysts, tumours, bone irregularities and much more. These visuals are shown on monitors which are attached to our dental chairs, enabling the patients to view the x-ray whilst laying in the chair. These digital x-rays can be printed, emailed, or copied (onto your own USB flash drive) at no extra cost.
  • Hydrim: The hydrim features a new automated method of washing dental instruments that ensures they are thoroughly cleaned, free of debris and ready for sterilization. By virtually eliminating debris on instruments, the hydrim promotes more effective sterilization.
  • Statim: The statim is a compact, counter-top sterilising unit that features a number of sterilizing cycles, using steam. It is suitable for all types of dental and medical instruments designed to withstand steam sterilization.
